Completed February 2019
This was a really fun project I did for a buddy of mine. He is a biker to the core. She is a petite little senior tax specialist. (Seriously. She is as tall as his armit). How they hooked up is in itself a love story worthy of any novel, but that is not what this blog is about. It is about how I made the ornaments for the wedding “cake”.
The idea was to create a scene that reflected their story: i.e. him putting bike aside to become domesticated. Trixie and Karabina are part of the couple’s story, so had to be included in the scene. The figures were from the movie “Frozen”.
The moose quickly helped to select the figure for the groom. Then it was up to him to choose the figure for his bride. Or did she choose him....?
All in all, a beautiful love story……
Since then, he has taught his little bean counter wifey to enjoy the feeling of freedom, such as one can only get on a bike as they cruise the country from dorpie to dorpie.
And so they will all live happily ever after....
She waited patiently whilst he gave the bike a quick tune-up before (what we all thought would be) the last ride.
In the meantime, I started working on the base. He discovered the koekblik in his desk drawer at the office - next to his racing boots.
He used to race superbike class at Killarney, and the wedding colours were a pink/purple colour. So I thought the idea of a matching chequered flag would be a special touch.
The figure’s head had to be “rebuilt” to suit the shape of the groom’s head (I don’t think he even remembered
ever having hair!) I used Pratley’s quick set putty to do this with. After that, the painting, and then they were ready for the wedding.
She did have to drag him away from his bike for just a while though! (Not that I think he really minded for too long!
[NOTE: I only made the top decorations. The flowers, and the tyre arrangement were made by the couple).
