Suzuki RM250

Completed December 2018

This Tamiya kit hailed from 1983. It was released again, with new box, in 2014. No idea why they changed the box, but anyway…. I had the 1983 kit. I had struggled internally as to whether to build it or keep it - in the hope that it would increase in value.

Then I thought “stuff it” and built the kit. I am glad that I did, as it was a nice kit and reminded me of younger days.

(The bikes I had were different and bigger though, but dirt bikes, nonetheless…)

There were not that many parts and this seemed to be an easy build so, as I often do in such cases, I stripped  the sprues, sorted the parts per object, cleaned them up and put the sub-assemblies in separate ziplock packets whilst watching a movie on a Sunday afternoon.

After that, I set about assembling, painting and weathering the sub-assemblies.

…. then further assembling and some weathering….

Being a non-conformist, I did not follow the suggested colours and opted for red grips and a blue seat in memory of a buddy mine, whose RM looked like that. (Yes, he is still alive - as far as I know).

My buddy in Kimberly gifted me with a helmet and I set about converting it.

(Including the helmet strap).

I played around trying to see the best place to put the helmet. I find that taking photos and then studying and comparing the photos, helps me to decide.

...... and finished….
